I watched a film recently called
‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’, now as it happens it wasn’t an amazing
film because I can’t actually remember what it’s about. However, there is one
scene in it where a Father and Son are duelling using oxymoron’s.
For those of you who are unsure, an
oxymoron is a figure of speech in which apparently
contradictory terms appear in conjunction – cheers Oxford Dictionary!
I can guarantee that every
single person reading this will use an oxymoron at least once a week and most
probably without even realising it. They are common place in the English language
nowadays.
If you’ve read any of my
previous posts, you will know that I am meant to be doing an 18,000 word
dissertation as a conclusion to my Master’s degree, which is why I am more than
happy to sit here and put together a list of some of the best oxymoron’s!
